Violeta Manevska, Ph.D. in Computer Science, works as a professor at the Faculty of Information and Communication Technologies at the “St. Kliment Ohridski” University in Bitola. She graduated, obtained her master’s degree, and completed her doctorate at the Institute of Informatics at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics in Skopje. Her research interests lie in applied mathematics and statistics, data analysis, and databases.

Which module do students study with you at the academy, and how does it help them become future Data Science experts?

Within the Data Science Academy, students study the Mathematics Module, where they acquaint themselves with the basic concepts of probability theory, statistical data analysis, and elements of linear algebra. Essentially, with this module, students reshape or acquire the necessary prerequisites for working with algorithms applied to experimental technologies’ data and for data analysis, obtaining a relevant dataset, managing data for quick and reliable access to large amounts of data, and developing practical skills needed for modern analytics.

After completing the academy, what can students work as?

Upon completing this academy, students will be capable of using appropriate software tools and algorithms, to perform the process of transforming large amounts of data into information necessary for making strategic decisions for their optimal use and operation. Data science is a computer branch that finds application in almost all areas of our lives. Therefore, after completing the academy, students can work as data analysts, data engineers, or machine learning engineers, engage in data visualization, develop data analysis tools, and similar tasks, regardless of the nature of the data they process.

Recommendation/advice for success for future students?

Data science encompasses numerous tools and technologies that enable comprehensive analyses and investigations that will shape the future and change the world. Therefore, investing in education for Data Science today is worthwhile!
