A short intro for Patricia
I am Patricija Gjorgieva, I currently work in A1 Macedonia, as a Specialist for ensuring the quality of services.
Before enrolling in Qinshift academy, I graduated and mastered at the Faculty of Music in Skopje, worked as a music education teacher for a short period of time, and then started working in the telecommunications sector and gradually got to know technology.
The two professions are seemingly completely different, but still have common points, such as analysis, criticism and, of course, digitalization. I hope in the future I will have the opportunity to work on audio software testing projects, of course on other innovative and challenging projects.
Where did the desire for software testing come from and why exactly Qinshift Academy?
The desire emerged during software testing, more precisely, I was working in a position as a business customer support agent, when the company first released an application that I started testing. The whole testing process for me was challenging, dynamic and interesting, so I started to think that maybe this is the job that fulfills me, after starting the SEDC academy I only confirmed the same.
I looked at programs and offers from several academies , but all the recommendations and previous exclusively positive experiences of the people around me directed me to Qinshift Academy. That I made the right choice is shown by my career growth in the last few years.
What is your approach to testing the functionalities of a software?
My work besides testing software functionalities, largely includes testing of a large number of telecommunications services, packages and technologies that are integrated into various real systems. The approach to testing primarily depends on what I am going to test. When it comes to testing the functionality of a software, I first analyze the specifications and requirements, then plan the test cases and implement them. I usually prioritize the key functionalities without which the software would not perform its primary function. I also focus on details, I check all aspects of the application and of course not to forget that during the entire testing, I look at all functionalities from the user’s point of view, i.e. whether the end user will be able to easily and intuitively navigate through the application itself or system.
Share your experiences with manual testing.
Due to the competitiveness of the market, ad hoc requests are submitted, so one of the most interesting experiences is the testing of such requests that are a surprise almost until the moment of commissioning, then in a short period of time the scenarios are written and testing begins. Such tests cannot be automated and in those situations the assessment and intuition of the tester is very important. It usually happens when I make the test plan, by executing the first test I report a defect-bug, so my colleagues often joke that I shouldn’t start it 😊
The tests of insurance services, surfing safety, external platforms for television, music applications, etc. are also quite interesting. During such testing, multiple systems and applications are integrated, we get access to the platforms themselves, and the testing principle is always new and different. That’s when the creativity for writing test cases and the ability to predict potential problems of a different nature come to the fore.
How much time do you devote to learning and research?
I cannot determine a precise time frame, I can say that I am learning continuously. The time I set aside depends on the responsibilities and the goal I want to achieve, I dedicate a significant amount of time to learning new things every day. Technology changes very quickly, if you are not a step ahead it means you are late, and learning has a key role to progress.
As for research, the work itself requires analysis and research. For anything that appears as an innovation, whether it is a new technology, a tool or a new principle of work, I research as much as I think is necessary to help me in my work, to acquire new skills or mostly out of pure curiosity 😊
How do you manage in the role of trainer, and do you apply some practices that you learned at the academy?
I have been in the role of trainer only recently, I am doing very well considering that my previous education was based on this type of work. The transfer of knowledge and the testing itself are a perfect combination of the two things that give me pleasure when I do them. I am especially pleased when students do not want to miss a lecture and actively participate in all tasks. I strive to be their support, to follow current trends and information, and to adapt to each student individually. The academy has a comprehensive program through which lectures are conducted, and I practice almost everything I have learned both from the academy and from colleagues – trainers and assistants with whom I attended lectures and collaborated during my teaching sessions. My previous experience and the experiences and knowledge of my colleagues are also of great help.
What advice would you give to those who want to enroll in this academy ?
I encourage them not to wait, to apply immediately. Regardless of their previous education and work experience, if they are ready for learning and continuous development they will surely succeed. There is no other way than to start from scratch and patiently acquire new knowledge and practical skills. To research, to follow technological trends, to set a clear goal and to be persistent until its complete realization.
Create your own success story through the software testing academy!
Enrollment for the new group is ongoing, we start on November 20!
