All the tools, games, websites, and the entire IT world would not be where it is today if Software Testers did not exist.
The biggest myth about this profession is that prior knowledge is crucial, but Martin Klimovski will tell about that and his experience as an Alumni student of the Academy, as well as a current Software Tester.
In short, let the readers get to know you, who is Martin?
“I’m Martin Klimovski, a graduate electrical engineer from FEIT, majoring in KSIAR.
I tried my career in industry as the direction dictates but I was not fascinated by it and gave up. I started reading about testing because at that time I also didn’t want to program at all.
After some time I saw that there was an academy for Software Testing, and so I appeared at the doors of Qinshift Academy.
Why did you decide to study Software Testing?
I have always wanted to know how things work and where their breaking point is. I have been involved in testing programs, video games, mobile phone applications, and even operating systems (Windows Insider Program) for a long time All of the above things showed me that I wanted to be a tester, so the next step was where to get professional training to have a career in testing.
What is it like to be a student at the Software Testing Academy at Qinshift Academy? Were your expectations met?
From start to finish I can say that the academy ran flawlessly.
There was constant interaction between lecturers and students, which for me is a big PLUS. The academy is intended for people with and without previous experience, some things were easy to understand and simple for me. The only thing I wanted to study a little more is automated testing. Since the academy is also for beginners we focused more on manual testing, but there is a saying “To be a good automated tester you need to be a great manual tester. “
You studied the Software Testing Academy at SEDC exactly two years ago. What since then?
With the help of the academy and the certificate which is highlighted in my CV, I easily got my first job. After a year and 6 months, they asked me in another company, where I am currently a manual tester. I consider the Academy a stepping stone in my career as a Software Tester.
Did the knowledge from the Software Testing Academy at QInshift Academy help you easily adapt to your work responsibilities?
Since we learned quite well the methodologies by which most firms work, I easily adapted in both companies. I want to say that every company has a different way of working and changing the workplace is a big plus for me to get to know other work cultures.
What left the biggest impression on you from the Academy?
The mentor who is brimming with knowledge in the field of Software Testing. I also want to praise the assistants who devoted themselves to the students all the time and explained to us what we did not understand.
What is your recommendation to all those who are thinking of directing their career in this profession?
In my opinion, a tester is a key player in the entire software development team, so I highly recommend taking up this career regardless of whether you have previous IT experience. If you’re interested in how things work and why they never work at all, want to improve the user experience, start reading about software testers today.
What are your plans for future professional and educational development?
I have already started learning automated testing and using tools related to the same. For a while I would like all my focus to be on automated testing.
I would certainly upgrade myself with online courses related to QA and testing. There is constant development in this profession and therefore constant upgrading is necessary.
