Read   the full interview.

Who is Julijana Acovska?

I have been working as a designer for about twenty years. I’ve had the opportunity to be part of several foreign companies, and while I started with designing books, magazines, and logos, my focus shifted to package design – connecting form, structure, material, color, image, typography with design elements to create a product suitable for marketing.  I started designing quite accidentally while I was still a mathematics student. People are usually grouped into two categories, those who are good at art or design, and those who are good at mathematics or science. The connection between these two professions is not random because many design concepts have direct connections to mathematical concepts and discoveries.

Who are the design academies intended for, and is IT knowledge required before enrollment?

Many people want to get into design but don’t know where to start. Even if they have no prior experience, here’s where the mentorship team comes in, helping them break into this field. Design academies are an excellent opportunity to combine creative abilities with technical skills. You acquire an exciting and creative profession rooted in a love for art.

What motivates you to continue daily education of students?

Design is as much art as it is science. It must not fail. We are here to nurture the creative side of the students.

We started with 2 new academies last year, UI/UX & Graphic Design (Fast Track), what are your impressions?

The team from the Design Academy constantly follows trends in the IT industry. UI/UX design is on the rise as a result of feedback from clients. Hence, the idea for a new direction in the Academy. It’s a great way to understand user needs and make changes to improve the customer experience. On the other hand, the afternoon sessions from the Graphic Design Academy (Fast Track) made it more accessible to a larger number of students.

Recommendation for interested and prospective students of design academies.

The fundamental principles always apply, but trends change quickly. Design is a field that constantly transforms, so it’s necessary, regardless of prior knowledge and experience, to adopt new techniques in line with technological and aesthetic trends.
