Did you make a career shift and who was Zoran before the Software Testing Academy at Qinshift Academy?
Before the Software Testing academy my career developed in various directions, but for the past three years, I have been focused on Customer Support roles in the IT industry. These experiences gradually developed and improved my communication skills and problem-solving abilities, while simultaneously increasing my ability to notice details. From this perspective I can say that this period proved to be a natural transition to Quality Assurance.
After graduating from the academy, I made a career change to the role of Quality Assurance Engineer at BetterBot, a company that is revolutionizing the rental process in the US using the latest automation and artificial intelligence tools. Here I apply my skills in planning, writing and executing tests, tracking defects and finally, contributing to ensuring high product quality.
In short, my career has evolved through each of the previous roles, contributing to my development as a software tester, allowing me to make a unique blend of Customer Oriented Mindset and technical expertise.
Choosing QA in Qinshift Academy was a strategic decision, based on my market research for academies that offer education upgrading.
Qinshift Academy stood out as the top choice because of their comprehensive curriculum, personalized mentoring and hands – on approach to learning. The academy provided a clear path for career transition and skills development.
In addition, the wide portfolio of the academy, its tradition and the constant adaptation of the programs according to the latest trends in the IT field were essential in my final decision.
What is your approach to testing the functionalities of a software?
My approach to testing is systematic and thorough. Firstly, I start by analyzing the specifications and requirements from which I need to understand what is expected from the software, or that is, how a certain functionality is expected to work from it. Then, I create a detailed test plan that includes all cases and test scenarios that I try to cover all aspects of the functionality being tested.
When testing, I focus not only on the functionality and the written test cases, but also on the usability, performance and visual presentation of the elements. Throughout the process, I maintain accurate documentation and communicate effectively with colleagues from other teams to ensure comprehensive testing from multiple perspectives.
What are your expectations from the position of academy assistant, is there something you do differently now than when you were at the academy?
I first accepted the position of assistant at the QA Academy as a new challenge, but I quickly learned about the responsibility that comes with it. For me, this is not only a work obligation, but also an opportunity to be part of a process that will inspire students and further fuel their motivation, providing them with the necessary energy to achieve their goals and career progress.
However, in this process, I expect to learn as well as the students. I believe that mutual learning and sharing of experiences will allow me to continue my professional development.
From our cooperation with the students, I expect to create innovative and interactive teaching. I believe that combining our ideas and creative approaches will help enrich the learning environment and create a stimulating environment for development.
Share your experiences with manual testing.
My manual testing experience is dynamic and constantly evolving, primarily focusing on simulating different user scenarios. This includes detailed testing of various functionalities such as scheduling, rescheduling and canceling meetings through our product, viewing available apartments, videos, 3D tours and other functionalities that directly affect the user experience.
Also, due to the fact that API call testing plays a key role in ensuring the functionality and successful synchronization of applications, testing our product’s integrations with other platforms is a significant aspect of my experience. This includes testing data exchange through API calls that enable communication between our platform and other systems.
Overall, from my experience I can emphasize the importance of including multiple aspects in the testing process that further contribute to the stability of the software. This not only helps in detecting bugs before the software is released, but also contributes to improving its stability, performance and user experience.
What advice would you give to those interested in this academy?
The path to Quality Assurance can be a real challenge, but at the same time magical, and therefore I would recommend to our students to:
Be curious: Your journey begins with your curiosity and desire to learn. If you’ve loved taking toys apart to explore them and understand how they work since you were little, then you have the right spirit for QA. Don’t be afraid to think outside the box of what is expected and standardized. Bravely try new ways of solving problems and think Out Of The Box. This can help you find innovative ways to improve processes and products, and develop your potential in the best possible way.
Research and prepare: Before venturing into QA, it’s important to research the sector and make sure that this step is one step closer to realizing your career goals and interests. Be prepared to invest time and energy in learning, as the academy will provide you with the tools and knowledge, but it is up to you how and to what extent you use them.
Be open to collaboration as well as criticism: your mentors and colleagues are your supporters. Be open to their advice, collaboration and criticism as part of your learning and development.
