Intro about Afrodita
Looking back, Afrodita today is everything she fantasized about. Everything that was once just a dream is now being lived. I work for a British booking agency – Agni Travel which owns luxury private villas in attractive locations all over Europe. Maintenance and development of the website www.beachvillas.com is one of my responsibilities. In the background, for the needs of the agency, there are several other projects in which I am involved. I am a mother of two children who enjoys spending her free time in nature with her family. Ohrid and Struga are ideal environments for sports and recreation at any time of the year. I ride a bicycle and roller skates, swimming is a priority in the summer and basketball has been my love since I was a teenager. I love art in every form. I’m a lover of the written word, if I’m not reading, then I’m writing. Time with friends is a must.
Who was Aphrodite before the programming academy ?
Before the programming academy, Afrodita was a professor of programming languages in Ohrid high school: OSU “St. Kliment Ohridski” – Ohrid. It was especially tempting to work with young talented students full of forward thinking ideas. It was they who inspired me to come to SEDC. In the summer period, I organized a summer school with a group of students who had ambitions in the field of informatics. One of the activities within the school was a visit to Qinshift academy and testing of the interested students. On that occasion, the Academy awarded a half scholarship to the best student. I have to admit that at the same moment, I wanted to become a part of this academy. After some time I started thinking about professional upgrade. Between master’s studies and academia, I chose Qinshift Academy without hesitation. In the period from enrollment to completion of the academy, I turned my passion for cooking into a source of livelihood. For a certain period I worked in the catering sector as a cook, which I am particularly proud of.
Did you have any knowledge of the IT field before enrolling and what did the academy prepare you for?
I graduated in computer science at SEEE – “University of Southeast Europe”. After my studies, I gave priority to my family. It meant a professional break for me. Building a career in parallel with building a family is not so simple. My first job was teaching programming languages. I taught C++ programming to third and fourth year in high school, covering a wide range of topics from both structured and object oriented programming. Before entering the academy, I had several internships in local companies where I expanded my experience and knowledge in the field of programming languages.
The academy definitely recruited me for what I chose to be my future profession. At the academy, I gained knowledge and skills that allowed me to easily fit into any IT company. It was a special honor and pleasure for me to be in the company of top professionals. We had the opportunity to learn from people who are at the zenith of their career. An impressive experience! The direct contact with these people allowed us to gain not only colleagues but also friends who openly advocated for each of us to achieve the goal.
I am infinitely grateful to them.
Academy projects versus workplace projects
The academy projects were excellent preparation for my work engagement. I have to mention a project of the trainer Riste Pazarkoski which involved the application of RegEx pattern. It was especially interesting for me when I got my first serious job assignment which was actually exactly what he demonstrated to us at the academy. Although I am currently working with the Laravel Framework, which is not taught at SEDC, things still basically work the same way. It is easy to master a new language when you already have a solid command of one. I work both Back-end and Front-end at the same time and I would say that both are an equal challenge for me. The unknown attracts, so I am constantly in search of new insights.
What do you prefer to work on, Javascript or .Net?
As I already mentioned, I have no preferences in that regard. I would advocate equally in any case. No matter what technology it is, personal satisfaction comes with every successfully completed task, and that turns work into pleasure.
What advice would you give to those who want to enroll in this academy?
When I decided to invest in myself, I enrolled in Qinshift programming academy. It was the best investment ever.
