Who is Filip Kirovski and how did he become part of the mentoring team at SEDC?
I am Filip Kirovski, working as part of the Open GI team as a Product Manager. I have been in the DevOps field for 11 years. The decision to teach at this academy came from my desire to pass on the knowledge I have gained and help more people advance in this field.
What does it mean to be a DevOps engineer?
The foundation of any good IT company is a good DevOps team. The job of every good DevOps engineer is to provide tools and processes for developers developing software and make their work easier. Good DevOps engineers see developers as clients who need to be satisfied.
Which module of the academy do you teach?
At the DevOps academy, I teach Version Control & Azure DevOps. These two modules are the basis for a good CI/CD (continuous integration and continuous delivery/continuous deployment) process. Version Control allows us to maintain good quality with appropriate branching strategies and a full view of the history of what we have been working on, while Azure DevOps is among the most useful tools for CI/CD, and a good understanding of Azure DevOps is a good foundation for implementing other CI/CD tools.
Are startups currently adopting DevOps practices?
DevOps is gaining momentum and a large number of startups are focusing on these processes starting from Mend (formerly WhiteSource) for checking all open source codes in the application, to Grafana for all logging and dashboard tools it offers. Currently, there are startups covering almost every aspect of the DevOps process.
AI & DevOps, what is your opinion on these revolutionary tools?
We live in interesting times and one of the revolutions in the IT sector is AI. Many professionals are afraid that AI will replace them in their work, however, I believe that AI is the best assistant we have received.
