Tell us, who is Aleksandar?
I am Aleksandar Malinov, I am 28 years old and I am from Skopje, I am a law graduate from St. Constantine and Helena University. Cyril and Methodius”. Before enrolling in the Programming Academy at Qinshift Academy (former SEDC), I had several work experiences in several industries, where my financial and professional expectations were not met. So I decided to take a big step and make a change in my career, which eventually came out as one of the best decisions of my life.
Why did you choose programming as your future profession?
In addition to the financial reason why most people opt for programming, one of the reasons for me was my desire to create websites and video games since I was a child. I have always loved and been fascinated by the thought of knowing what the process looks like to build something from zero and grow into something complete and functional.
What was your experience at the Programming Academy at SEDC?
I am very pleased with my experience at the Programming Academy. The first part of the academy (front-end) was followed by a physical presence, and the rest of the academy took place online. Despite all the problems with the pandemic, the Qinshift Academy team handled the whole situation very well and we quickly adapted to the new situation with online teaching.
Qinshift Academy has an excellent number of trainers who are eager to impart their knowledge to the students and are available at all times. With more coaches involved during the educational process, it was a very good experience for me and an opportunity to gain knowledge, different views, and experiences from several experts who are among the best in my field.
Did the Academy live up to your expectations?
The academy has fully fulfilled my expectations and I am very pleased with all the coaches I have had the opportunity to interact with and learn a lot from them. Coaches selflessly invested and managed to introduce us not only to things related to theoretical programming classes but also to the practical part of education.
Tell us briefly about your experience after the Academy is finished.
Two months before I finished the Programming Academy, I started applying for internships in several IT companies and started an internship in September 2020 where I worked on a project with older technology (Asp.net 4 WebForms)
But after just finishing the Academy, I got a call from Seavus for an interview for a possible job, where I did great and got a job offer as a .Net Developer. I have been working at Seavus for 7 months now and I am very satisfied with my experience so far, where I am progressing daily and gaining new experiences and challenges.
Your advice to future students at the Programming Academy?
My advice for future students of the Programming Academy is “Write homework!“.
I can say that after every lecture I sat at home, I would take a few hours and solve my homework.
You cannot expect to learn only through the teaching process, my advice is to invest time outside the academy’s scheduled classes. Programming is a great challenge and it is not easy to learn, as any other profession requires a lot of work, time, and love to master.
Don’t be uncomfortable asking questions at lectures if you don’t understand something, because the coaches themselves are eager to pass on their knowledge to you.
I wish all future Qinshift Academy students the best of luck and hope that we will be colleagues one day.
